Description(what you look like to others)
Gowen is a Grel. He is approximately 5' 10" in height. He has a light grayish-brown skin tone and black hair. He has a slim athletic build.

The first thing most people notice about Gowen is that he is blind. He has no eyes. He generally wears leather armor and walks around with a quarterstaff.

Background

Grel forever lurk in the mind of those within their reach. They are the antithesis of civilization -- they are destroyers. The grel were born to fight, yet strangely they refuse to fight in masse or adopt the rank and military diciplines which their elven cousins are so adept at. The grel prefer the elements of fear, surprise and evil cunning when it comes to the art of war. It comes natural to them and great armies dread any prospect that envolves fighting these proud warriors.

The Grel developed their own style of steathy warefare. As years passed there skilles were honed. Master Chung Hu Chek once wrote, " ... in a fair fight, a hundred grel against a legion of well trained, well armed human warriors would probably be an even match. But" he adds " If I were a betting man, my money would be on the Grel!!"

Gowen comes from a small town in Sarlang. Sarlang is home of the “dark hearts”, the dreaded Grel. This race of nomadic elves are feared even by the Orkin armies of Ahk’Tang and are one of the few nations to stand up to to Goremunya’s attempts to expand into their territory and emerge victorious. The Sarlangans fiercely defend their borders and recently refused to join an alliance with the Southern Orc League against Fangaerie and her allies. Sarlangan raiding parties frequently move across the borders in all directions into the heartland of neighboring countries. Sarlangan mercenary scouts are highly sought after and well paid. Even Fangaerie’s famous Fifth Varen Caras (Legion) is known to keep several “dark hearts” on the payroll.

Sarlang is on a world called Aldrazar. Gowen is far from home.

Gowen was born blind. His mother was told to kill him, because he was of no use to the tribe. She refused and ran awy with him. She raised him til he was about 8 years old, before an orc raiding party killed her and left Gowen for the wild animals.

A traveling man from Akatania found Gowen when his party of humans and grels passed by and saw the remains of a battle. Gowens mother took six of the bastard orcs with her to meet the Grel god Arnuya. Master Estin Drayom was that man. He was on his way back to Akantania with his new recruits.

Master Estin Drayom raised Gowen as his own. He ran the fighter school Brek Duran in the small town of Jonid. Master Drayom taught Gowen how to fight blind. Gowen seemed to have a knack for it as most Grel do, but Gowen was different, he seemed to hear and smell the world as good or better than people with sight could see it.

After many years, Master Drayom retired from teaching, he was very old. Gowen decided to go out on his own. The armies of Fangaerie needed help in their conflicts with the Southern Orc League. Who better than a Grel. Gowen headed to Fangaerie. Gowen traveled with a man named Count LaGrunge, who headed in that direction, as a bodygaurd.

Along the way he ran into a group of halflings torturing a Gnome Titan. Gowen jumped to his aid and slaughtered the halflings. The gnome titan's name was Fendarus and they fast became friends. Gowen and Fendarus had many adventures together. They picked up a beautiful Ork priestess of Thora as a companion as well.

In the seaside town of Muddlehelm, Fendarus stabbed the 'Book of Vile Darkness' with a magical sword. The resulting explosion sent Gowen, Wendy and Fendarus to another world. The world of Azeroth. A world of constant conflict. During thier adventures on Azeroth, Gowen meet many people, races and found many treasures. Fendarus, Wendy and he became a family, always looking for a way home.

One day Gowen and party came to some ruins in Kalimdor. They were attacked buy orc raiders. During the fight, Wendy was knocked unconscious and taken by the orcs. Gowen and Fendarus chased after them taking most of the orc raiders out, one by one. In a panic the 3 remaining raiders took Wendy into an archway in the ruins and disappeared. Gowen and Fendarus followed.

A familiar sensation of falling and nothingness rendered Gowen and Fendarus unconscious. When they awoke they were in a very hot and humid place. Gowen could sense it was an island. Gowen found Wendy's warhammer and necklace of Thora, so they new Wendy was here too, but Wendy and the orcs were nowhere to be found.
