Session 5

Goblin Aftermath

Saturday July 27th 2002 (BJDM)

The battle against the two different bands of goblins is over.  There have been many losses, Victor is bloodied, as is Kazier and many of the townsfolk.

For peace of mind the badly injured Victor takes off the slain Rexxar's head with his own weapon.  He nearly collapses then.    The fallen are taken down to the Temple of Gweir.

Dril, who had been guarding the two Kilmoorian prisoners, now switches with Kazier.  He goes to help move the dead and tend to the wounded.  Jinx also does what she can for those hurt.

Dril goes to where Maurice had fallen, and checks for a pulse.  There is nothing.  However, Maurice gives a ragged gasp and his wounds start bleeding again.     The sprig sees that he's still alive, but barely, and starts feeding him some healing mushrooms.  His worst injury is to his chest and Dril actually puts his small hand in the wound to stop the hemorraging.

Seeing all this, Victor staggers over and helps revive then stablise the nearly dead orc.  He is then gently carried down to the Goodland Tavern where he is bandaged up and put to bed.

The pixie Galith goes at daylight to check out the goblin cave.  It looks empty, a few riderless wolves come back, sniffing around.  He then returns to town, telling Dril, Victor, and Jinx what he's seen. They decide to investigate further what else is there.

The Kilmoorians are put into a jail cell and guarded by Sheriff Brim and Kazier.  Maurice is still unconcious and left behind at the tavern.  Captain Scrimm takes care of the four dead guards from Red Shore.

With Jinx driving a wagon, they go through the forest and arrive at the cave.  A few wolves are around but don't seem threatening.  Jinx gets a lantern and they go on in.  A real treasure hoard is found here.  Geld, pence, various religious idols, armor, weapons, and an eyepatch with a saffire gem set into it.

All of the loot gets piled into the wagon and Dril takes the eyepatch.  Seeing the nearby wolves, both Dril and Victor go to two of them and take them as mounts.  This is a little difficult, but these beasts are quite domesticated.  Back in town they are fed and stabled.

At the Goodland Tavern everyone rests and sleeps into the next day.  Jinx talks about the goblins.  One group was Rexxar's Bloody Hatchets, and the other was led by Gryxle of the Putrid Flesh Clan.  They were rivals, both competing for the town.      Scrimm comes in with a dispatch from Marcus, who has now declared himself King and proclaims "All of Corvel needs to work together against the threat of the Kilmoorians".

Jinx helps out Maurice, changing his bandages.  She and Dril both have some healing skills which they use.

At the Temple of Gweir a ceremony for the dead is held.  Afterwards the monk is able to identify a few of the religious icons brought from the goblins. One is a suit of studded leather armor from an elven hero called Ara of the Seven Winds.  Maurice takes it with reverence.  He talks a bit about fighting the goblins up north in the Cursed Wood.  They killed many of his friends and he hates them.

During the few days everyone rests, Dril talks a bit more with the jailed Kilmoorian called Gokar.  Eventually Dril learns that the other one's name is Urthane.  Gokar believes that chaos will run across the land with Cedric dead.

The money from the goblin stash is split up evenly.  Both Victor and Maurice donate a lot of their shares to the monk, while Jinx gives all of her share up at the Temple.  He can use it to help out the poor and needy.

While out scouting, Galith comes across another goblin warband.  They seem to be the remnants of the two groups that had attacked Goodland.   Telling the group all about it, they agree that the goblins cannot be allowed to kill other innocents.  Though they are still hurt, the group puts on their armor and weapons and goes out to face them.

Maurice, Galith, Dril, Victor, Kazier, and Jinx go out to find these remaining renegades.  When they are found they are charged and cut down in moments.  Maurice is particularly savage in his attack.  These goblins will trouble no one else.

When it is all over, an exhausted Jinx says "Let's go get something to eat . . ."
